The Safeway Open is a PGA Tour Fall Series golf tournament. First staged in 2007 as the Fry's Electronics Open at Grayhawk Golf Club's Raptor Course in Scottsdale, Arizona, it adopted its current name in 2008, and moved to CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, California. Since its inception, the purse has been US$5 million.
The inaugural event was won by Canadian Mike Weir by one stroke over Mark Hensby. In 2008 the event was won by Cameron Beckman on the second playoff hole when he parred and Kevin Sutherland bogeyed. In 2009, Troy Matteson set a PGA Tour 36-hole record by shooting 61-61=122 in the second and third rounds. He won a three-man playoff over Rickie Fowler and Jamie Lovemark to win the tournament.

Jonas Blixt won the 2012 Safeway Open following a fine performance the last four days at Silverado Country Club in San Martin, California. Blixt entered the fourth round at the top of the leaderboard, then 2 late birdies held off Tim Petrovic and Jason Kokrak to win the title outright.

Bryce Molder wins longest playoff at 2011 Safeway Open, CordeValle. Molder captured his first tour victory by making a 6-foot birdie putt on the sixth playoff hole to outlast Briny Baird.

Rocco Mediate holed out for eagle for the fourth straight day, hitting a pitching wedge approach from 116 yards that spun back into the cup on the par-4 17th hole Sunday en route to a one-stroke victory over Bo Van Pelt and rookie Alex Prugh in the 2010 Safeway Open. The 47-year-old Mediate won his sixth PGA Tour title and first since 2002, finishing with a 2-over 73 for a 15-under 269 total at CordeValle. He earned $900,000 and a two-year tour exemption. Mediate had a hole-in-one on the par-3 third hole Thursday, holed out from 160 yards Friday on the par-4 fourth, and holed out from 111 yards Saturday on the par-5 15th hole.
